hm.... only if the Generator is close to your house because if not it would need cables to connect it to your home and don't put it outside because lighting could... um.... damage it and if the generator is inside ur house then... u will die.... oh and the answer is yes if it is close to your home.... and not outside...

If you have a ATS automatic transfer switch, yes the perpose of this device is when power from the utility is cut off the ATS senses the loss and switches you over to generator power. If you install a generator with just a TS transfer switch it is totally manual and you must go to your breaker panel and flick a switch to make it happen. The diffrence is a few moments with out power and instant power, and several hundred dollars.
